Lone Dreamdays by Joni Caggiano
I acquiesce to God, a lividity prints itself
upon my head
age summons memories, of starving
cats, playing pennywhistles in an alley
my pen spreads ink, keen to write
peculiar dreams, as I slumber on a
barren bed
you emigrate with crows, to warmth, as I
linger in colds
oil tainted with burnt-red clay, as a late
frost bites my soul for a taste
of the song, the wrens sang for me, of
my hope, for the veracity of her story
told

Joni, you never failed to amaze me with your linguistic skills. This gives me a «renaissance» poetry vibes.

Thank you so much dear Mich. I guess that was a bit of a different piece I use to say I should have been born during the renaissance period, but women had no rights back then, I probably would not have lasted. Hope your day is filled with joy, Big hugs Joni

Oh, if you were born then i am sure you would make a big difference in the society❤️✍️ you should would have been one of those rallying for the rights of women.

Thank you Cindy for reading, I am glad you enjoyed the imagery too. It is a bit of a sad poem. A lonely woman who once waited for someone that never returned, to this barren bed.

I loved the smooth vibe to this one.. Renaissance indeed..a Renaissance woman, doubtful. You’d have been a hell raiser 😜
At least I hope you would have been. But there is a unmistakable ease of this piece, like water flowing gently in a cold stream..it’s quite soothing. It is not as intense as some of your more heavier poems. Very great exhibition of your writing skills. Loved it, Joni. 💜💜💜

Dearest Nigel, wow, thank you very much for all your very kind comments, and you’re right, I’m a bit of a hell raiser. I risked my life once as a teenager for someone I hardly knew, but that’s a story for another day 😁 hugs and love from the both of us ❤️
